AR19-10 Guernsey to Falmouth Milebuilder
Head beyond sight of land as we cross the Channel from St Peter Port in the Channel Islands to Falmouth in Cornwall.
Adventure Summary
Join us aboard the Amelie Rose as we set sail from St Peter Port in Guernsey across the English Channel to Falmouth Harbour. It’s over 110 miles in a straight line and we’ll be covering that in less than three days so this is a great chance to pile on a few miles and learn to navigate away from the sight of land under the watchful eye of our Skipper/Instructor Nick.
You don’t have to be learning to sail though – it’s also a great way to experience offshore sailing and to get the feel of a longer voyage or even just to have the chance to see two historic channel ports with a bit of sailing thrown in too!
Itinerary
You’ll be joining us in St Peter Port on the Friday night. We normally meet up to enjoy a meal at a local pub or Bistro (of which there are plenty within walking distance of the harbour).
With food and introductions complete we’ll move to the boat where you’ll find yourself a bunk, stow your gear and have a look around. Before we head to our beds we’ll have a chat about plans for the passage back to Falmouth – and may even set out that night.
The exact route will depend on the tides and weather but typically we either sail a direct route to Falmouth or cross to the South Coast between Salcombe and Fowey and run along the coast from there. We aim to be in Falmouth as early as possible on the Monday.
