Why choose Amelie Rose for your cruise to the Isles of Scilly?

The Isles of Scilly are a stunning destination, but getting there, staying there and moving around the islands can be a complicated and expensive business. Skipper Nic makes the case for why a trip to the Islands aboard the Amelie Rose is the best of all the available options and provides you with maximum bang for your buck.

Considering all of the “extras” that you get for free we’re amazing value

Not only to you get your passage to and from the islands (over £115 on the ferry and much more fun on a sailing boat) but all of your inter-island journeys are included too – which with a return ticket in the inter-island boats costing £12 this year soon adds up. This is especially true given that we usually aim to visit all of the inhabited islands and often fit in a couple of the others too – as well as throwing in a wildlife spotting trip for free (£18 otherwise). Add to all this your all-inclusive board and lodging for the week and pretty soon you are quid’s-in when you sail to Scilly aboard the Amelie Rose.

Our trips are the longest that you can pack into just one week’s holiday

Even compared to other charter boats running the same route we do our best to sneak in some extra value for you. Our Isles of Scilly adventures start on a Saturday evening and run until the Sunday of the next weekend, maximising the amount of time that you get to spend relaxing in the Islands for just one week’s holiday booked off work and up to 2 days longer than most of the competition.

Amelie Rose is large enough to be comfortable but small enough to sneak into the smaller bays and anchorages.

The Isles of Scilly can get busy in high season, especially in August when large numbers of French yachts arrive. The ability to sneak into a tight anchorage can come in handy at these times plus many of the nicest hidey-holes are too small for larger sailing craft. Amelie Rose’s size does not mean that we skimp on comfort however. Every berth comes with ample stowage and there’s plenty of room to relax both above and below decks.

We’ve been sailing to the Islands for more than a decade and are something of Isles of Scilly experts – knowing all the nooks and cranny’s, where to go and what to see there.

Nic has been sailing to the Islands since 2010 and has built up a big repertoire of different anchorages, interesting sail routes and information about what to see and do whilst ashore on the various islands. For those who like to dig even further Nic is also good friends with local Naturalist and Historian Will Wagstaff – who has in the past run guided tours for us, and also Nikki Banfield of the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust who lets us know what events they have planned.

Sailing is more environmentally friendly

For those of us who are doing our best to look after planet Earth, there really is no more sustainable a way to get out to and around the islands than by sailing boat. But Topsail Adventures Green credentials don’t stop there. Read https://www.topsail-adventures.co.uk/sustainability/ to find out about all the ways that we endeavour to protect our only home.

The Isles of Scilly aboard an Isles of Scilly Pilot Cutter!

Amelie Rose is an authentic replica of the boats who plied their trade around the Isles of Scilly more than 150 years ago. She is quite literally built from the keel up to handle these waters and there are those around the islands that recognise her heritage still. To visit these magical Islands aboard an Isles of Scilly Pilot Cutter is to experience a bit of living history and is truly the trip of a lifetime.
