Topsail Adventures COVID-19 Response
"I have no higher priority than the health and well-being of our guests, crews, and their friends and families – especially those who are in COVID-19 high-risk groups. I am also keen to ensure that people who have booked aboard the Amelie Rose for our 2020 season do not lose out financially from any actions I take in response to the COVID-19 pandemic."
This article will be updated as any new information comes to light and I recommend that you bookmark this permalink (https://www.topsail-adventures.co.uk/2020/topsail-adventures-covid-19-response/) and check back regularly.
Last updated: 1804BST 06/07/2020 (v6.1 – Major update; Skippered Charter given the go ahead with major restrictions, Topsail Adventures looks to start single household charters)
On 02/07/2020 The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs confirmed to British Marine and the RYA that the specific advice relating to Skippered Charter that they had released on 11 June 2020 would be withdrawn on 04 July 2020. No further specific advice would be issued and it would be up to charter operators to interpret the more general advice from the government and implement it within their businesses.
As of 7 July 2020, Topsail Adventures will therefore commence taking bookings for “whole boat” charters for single households only. We hope that the 2020 season will start on or about 15 August 2020, and run until 1 November 2020. We are still hopeful that our 2021 season will be able to run as normal. All remaining bookings for our original “multi-household” 2020 Adventures have now been cancelled.
Our bookings system remains open for those who wish to have a guess as to when we will be able to resume normal sailing operations and we have now uploaded our 2021 Schedule. As of 30 April 2020, we will no longer taking deposits for trips until we are sure that the trip in question will be able to run. You can still send us booking enquiries and we’ll confirm availability and hold the berths for you, but will only take a deposit and confirm your berths when it becomes clear that we’ll be able to run the adventure.
All affected guests have now been contacted by email.
We are all living through incredibly difficult times; however, I believe that by working as a community, with empathy and togetherness, we can all get through this. I thank you all in advance for your understanding and patience.
Please do all that you can to keep yourself and all our fellow earthlings safe and well,
Nic Beck xx

Only time and this would happen. All the best for the next few months. A gentle diet of your wonderful photos will help ease the pain down here in “The Sun-burnt Country”.
Sitting on airfares, now moved to October. Hopefully Qantas will do “the right thing” and honor another move to next year” Anyway, minor issue compared to what you are facing. Good luck and hopefully you, well all of us will come out on the right side of “this”??
Thank you Philip – we hope to see you when it becomes safe for us all to play once again!
Hi Nick, just checking on how things are going with yourself in these difficult times!
The trip situation for all sail trip companies is predictably the same! Not sailed now for over a year.☹️ Have taken to the water by doing kayaking, social distancing’ not being a problem and qualifies as ‘taking exercise’😊. Hopefully, all things Covid will improve by next Spring!
Great to hear from Ian! We’re all still hanging on here at Topsail Adventures, Missy dog is enjoying the extra company and Amelie Rose is benefitting from having a summer of maintenance as well as the usual winter tasks. We’re all desperate to get out sailing though!
