AR21-16 Channel Islands Cruise

Cross the English Channel from Cornwall to the Channel Islands for a week exploring this fabulous area.

Adventure Summary

Join us for this amazing Mile-building Adventure Cruise across the English Channel from Falmouth to the Channel Islands; home to the legendary Alderney Race and the infamous Swinge. This stunning area also boasts ports packed with history, secluded anchorages and some of the best sailing in the English Channel.

Tough, stable and safe; Amelie Rose is the perfect vessel on which to visit. Join the crew as we spend a week touring the islands, visiting some of our favourite spots; from intriguing Alderney to the hustle and bustle of St Peter Port on Guernsey and not forgetting the wonderful little world of Sark – the island that time forgot.

Itinerary

You’ll be joining us in Falmouth on the Saturday night. We normally meet up to enjoy a meal at the Chain Locker & Shipwrights – a bit of a local institution and known to Team Topsail as “The Falmouth Office”. With food and introductions complete we’ll move to the boat where you’ll find yourself a bunk, stow your gear and have a look around. Before we head to our beds we’ll usually have a chat about the plan for the following day.

The exact route will depend on the tides and weather but typically we either sail a direct route to Guernsey, or run along the South Coast to Salcombe and cross from there. The rest of the route will depend on the tides and weather but typical destinations include; Cherbourg, Braye Harbour (Alderney), St Peter Port (Guernsey), St Helier (Jersey), Sark, Herm and occasionally Les iles Chausey or even the Plateau des Minquiers.

There may be some night-sailing involved and almost certainly a night or two at anchor as well as the harbour visits. We’ll be aiming to be back close to the Beaulieu River by Saturday night (probably in Yarmouth). This will leave just a short hop to get you back to Bucklers Hard with plenty of time to tidy up the boat and then head home on Sunday.
