AR19-16 August Bank Holiday Taster Voyage

Get away from it all with a Bank Holiday coastal dash aboard the Amelie Rose - exploring the Jurassic Coast & havens of the Solent.

Adventure Summary

Join us for the August Bank Holiday aboard the Amelie Rose as we set sail from the beautiful Beaulieu River to explore the beginnings of the Jurassic Coast on the way from Portland to Beaulieu.

Our Traditional Tasters don’t usually end up going very far – preferring to boot about in the Solent having fun and then holing up in one of the many lovely harbours or anchorages there. But with the launch of our Clean Seas Odyssey week a new opportunity has arisen for you to try out a real passage running along the Coast between Portland and the Solent.

There are a number of lovely harbours and anchorages on the way, and we’ve snuck an extra day so that we won’t be pressured for time and can enjoy ourselves on the way, but the pricing is super keen so you’ll have a little bit left over to pay for the extra train ride should you need to get back to the start.

Itinerary

You’ll be joining us at Portland Marina in Portland Harbour on the Sunday night, where you can enjoy a meal at the Marina Restaurant and meet the other guest crew. With food and introductions complete we’ll move to the boat where you’ll find yourself a bunk, stow your gear and have a look around the boat. Before we head to our bunks we’ll usually have a chat about potential destinations for the following day.

After breakfast on Monday morning we’ll head out into the harbour and off towards the Solent, spending the day learning how to sail the boat. Lunch will be served underway, and in the afternoon we’ll head to our overnight destination – which will probably be either Worbarrow Bay, Studland Bay or Yarmouth on the IOW.

Depending on what the tide is up to, Tuesday may start early or include a lie in but there’ll be breakfast to eat and sailing to be done before we head back to the Beaulieu River by mid afternoon. After packing up gear, our guest crews often decamp to the pub for a farewell drink before heading home.
