AR19-15 Traditional Taster Voyage

Get away from it all with a long summer weekend voyage on the Amelie Rose - exploring the coastline from Beaulieu to Portland.

Adventure Summary

Join us aboard the Amelie Rose as we sail from the Beaulieu River down the beginnings of the Jurassic coast to Portland Harbour.

Our Traditional Tasters don’t usually end up going very far – preferring to boot about in the Solent having fun and then holing up in one of the many lovely harbours or anchorages there. But with the launch of our Clean Seas Odyssey week a new opportunity has arisen for you to try out a real passage running along the Coast between Beaulieu and Portland.

There are a number of lovely harbours and anchorages on the way, and we’ve snuck an extra day into the trip, so that we won’t be pressured for time. The pricing is also super keen – so you’ll have a little bit left over to pay for the extra train ride home.

Itinerary

You’ll be joining us at Bucklers Hard on the Beaulieu River on the Thursday night, where you can enjoy a meal at the Master Builders Hotel and meet the other guest crew. With food and introductions complete we’ll move to the boat where you’ll find yourself a bunk, stow your gear and have a look around the boat. Before we head to our bunks we’ll usually have a chat about potential destinations for the following day.

After breakfast on Friday morning we’ll head downriver and out into the Solent where we’ll start our journey Westwards as you learn about sailing the boat. Lunch will be served underway, and in the afternoon we’ll head to our first overnight destination. Depending on the winds and tides this might be either Yarmouth or Lymington or we may stretch our legs and end up in Studland Bay.

This pattern will continue until we reach Portland on the Sunday (arriving in plenty of time for you to catch a train back up to Beaulieu or straight home. Destinations on the way include; Newtown Creek, Yarmouth, Lymington, Alum Bay, Studland Bay, Poole, Worbarrow Bay and (though it’s rather close to the end point) Weymouth.
